Please include the following item on the City Commission agenda for consideration at the March 29, 2011 meeting:
Background.
The City, KDOT, Douglas County and Mercato Development have worked together for approximately a year to develop the final agreement provided for the Commission’s consideration/approval.
The Mercato Development is located on the north side of W. 6th Street between George Williams Way and K-10. The development has requested access to W. 6th Street; a perimeter road, “Renaissance Road”, will be constructed as the development progresses.
The agreement defines the responsibilities of all parties to allow the access to 6th Street. Plans for the access have been progressing and have received City and KDOT approval. The development will be responsible for all costs of construction. County Road E 902 will not have access to W. 6th Street upon completion of the improvements; drivers will have alternate access to George Williams Way and 6th Street.
Action Request. Authorize the City Commission to sign State Agreement No. 17-11 for an access opening along W. 6th Street, west of George Williams Way, for the Mercato Development.
