TWO (2) FULL SIZE 4X4 PICKUPS –  PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT – #B1110

On March 15, 2011, the City Commission authorized the purchase of two full size pickups for Public Works, Street Division from Olathe Ford (see memo attached). Since then Olathe Ford rescinded their bid, and will not provide the vehicles. It is our understanding that Olathe Ford made a mistake on their bid and the vehicle they intended to offer at the bid price does not meet our specifications (see attached message from Olathe Ford sales representative).

Laird Noller Automotive’s bid is within 1% of Landmark Dodge’s and Shawnee Mission Ford’s bids, therefore the local preference policy can apply.  Laird Noller’s bid meets all specifications.  This purchase was approved in the 2011 budgeting process.

Recommendation Action: 

Rescind Olathe Ford’s previously awarded bid approved March 15, 2011 and apply local purchasing preference policy and award bid for two (2) ½ ton pickups for the Public Works Department to Laird Noller Automotive for $23,225.00 each total bid $46,450.00 (Public Works/Street)
