CONTRACT MOWING – PARKS AND RECREATION – B1107
The Parks and Recreation Department was asked to coordinate the bidding of contractual mowing services for the city. The 2011 mowing season is the first attempt to look at all city departments that have contracted mowing services in the past, and coordinate them into one set of bid documents. Properties being bid are currently being managed by Parks & Recreation, Utilities, Public Works, Police, Fire, and Code Enforcement. The properties were divided by geographic location and frequency of mowing to create mowing districts (see attachment). These districts were bid separately to allow smaller local mowing companies an opportunity to bid. This bid is renewable for four additional one year periods providing both parties agree and funds are available.
The attached bid tabulation shows the low bidder for each district. The bottom of the bid tabulation sheet shows the City spent $159,568.00 in 2010. The bids for 2011 came in at $129,519.16 with a total savings of $30,048.84.
Mowing was budgeted in the 2011 budgeting process.
Recommendation Action:
Award renewable bid for Parks and Recreation, Fire/Medical, Utilities, and Community Development Departments for contract mowing Park district 2 for $8,890.50, Park district 3, area 1 for $5,718.16, Parks district 4 area 1 for $32,374.86. Parks district 4 area 2 for $16,560.99, Landscape area 1 for $30,897.34, Landscape area 2 for $20,321.31 to Shawn’s Lawn and Landscape. Award Parks district 3, area 1 for $14,756.00 to Brayden’s Lawn and Landscape, total for all contract mowing $129,519.16. (Various departments)
