2010 TASER usage report

The report documenting the use of TASERs by the Police Department is attached.  The report documents the eight incidents when TASERs were used in confrontations in 2010 with all uses within existing City policies and procedures.  As part of the review, the Police Department has further refined the policy to better reflect the limited instances when use of the devices is appropriate.  The City Manager has authorized the additional expenditure not exceeding $14,000.00 to purchase 16 more TASER units, bringing the total number of deployment to 26 (there are 10 currently deployed) which is recommended in the report.  The use of TASERs has proven to be an effective tool by the Police Department, and the annual monitoring of use will continue.
