RE: |
Annual software maintenance for G. E. Fanuc software |
I. Intellution Software Maintenance The City pays annual software maintenance for software used with GE Fanuc equipment used by the Utilities Department.
II. Intellution Software The Intellution software is used by the Utilities Department to manage the SCADA networks operating the GE Fanuc equipment controlled by the software for all three Utilities facilities. The term “SCADA” is an industry term that is short for “Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition.” SCADA systems are centralized systems which monitor and control entire sites, controlling most actions by automatically performing processes by Remote Terminal Units ("RTUs") or by programmable logic controllers ("PLCs"). The SCADA systems process and log operations at intervals that are not practical by staff personnel. This software is manufacturer specific and is purchased directly from the Manufacturer (G. E. Fanuc), but processed through the provider for our territory, Industrial Network Systems, (INS). INS processes orders of G. E. Fanuc software for end-users, resellers and integrators in this area. This is a sole source purchase.
III. Software Funding.
The software is funded by the Utilities Department and is broken down as follows:
Clinton Water Treatment Plant |
501-7-7210-4004 |
$9,390.50 |
Kaw Water Treatment Plant |
501-7-7220-4004 |

Utilities Collections Divison |
501-7-7410-4004 |

|
TOTAL: |

IV. Action Requests Information Systems is recommending that the City of Lawrence approve a purchase order in the amount of $37,561.99 to GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, Inc., c/o Industrial Network Systems to continue the City’s use of Intellution Software maintenance for the period from March 1, 2011 to March 1, 2012.
