RE: |
Carnegie Exhibit for Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area |
On July 13, 2010 the City Commission authorized the expenditure of $50,000 in guest tax funds for the design work associated with establishing an exhibit in the renovated Carnegie building for Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area.
Funding for the exhibit is provided through the Transient Guest Tax (TGT). In 2009, the TGT was increased to six percent (6%) in 2009; the projected increase in funding has been allocated in part for renovations at the Carnegie Library and to provide funds for an exhibit at the facility. Destination Management, Inc. has been coordinating the exhibit design, with input from Parks and Recreation Department which is operating the building and renting event space. The attached memorandum from Destination Management, Inc. requests installation expenditures totaling $200,000 to complete the project. Current and future guest tax resources will be allocated to fund this project.
