December 7, 2010 Agenda Item – Award Bid for Electrical Preventative Maintenance

 

Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the December 7, 2010 meeting:

Award Bid No. B1059; Electrical Preventative Maintenance for the Utilities Department to Superior Electric Company, Inc. in an amount of 20,856.00 and authorize the City Manager to execute a contract agreement.

 

Project History/Status

Utilities Department requested bids for forty five (45) electrical management devices (out of 148) for preventive maintenance. The electrical management devices control power delivery to the equipment within the Utilities Department.  The controls are transformers, frequency drives and switch gear associated with the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Clinton and Kaw Water Treatment Plants, and various lift stations.  This preventive maintenance program helps to ensure the reliability of the electrical components tested and the items they provide power to.

 

Three bids were opened on November 16, 2010 and evaluated by City staff. The bid summary is as follows:

Project Funding: 

The project will be funded from water, wastewater and collection system 2010 Operations and Maintenance Budget.

 

Action Request:  Staff recommends awarding Bid No. B1059 for Electrical Preventative Maintenance for the Utilities Department to Superior Electric Company, Inc. in an amount of $20,856.00 and authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract agreement.
