RE:               2011 Collection, Disposal and Technical Assistance Services for Household Hazardous Waste and Small Quantity Generator Programs

 

 

Project Background:

The City of Lawrence / Douglas County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) facility accepts hazardous and non-hazardous waste from Douglas County households and qualified Small Quantity Generator businesses.  The State requires hazardous waste collected at HHW facilities to be shipped via a licensed hazardous waste transporter and disposal contractor.

 

On November 11, 2010 the City of Lawrence reviewed proposals for the following:  

 

RFP Number R1008.

Description:  Collection, disposal, and technical assistance services for hazardous and non-hazardous waste generated from households and qualified Small Quantity Generator businesses located in Lawrence and Douglas County, Kansas.

Recommendation Action:                    

Approve proposal from Clean Harbors Environmental Services based on best stated price schedule as compared with 2009 shipment information, contractor qualifications and technical proposal, and demonstrated compliance record of subcontractors and waste management facilities to dispose of waste in a safe and environmentally sound manner.  The length of this contract period is one year from signature of contract with a yearly renewal option up to four additional years if agreed by both parties and provided funds are available.
