Project No. PW1004 – 2010 Microsurfacing Program November 2, 2010 Consent Agenda Item – Approve Change Order No.3
|
Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the November 2, 2010 meeting:
Project Description/History. The 2010 Microsurfacing Program project was awarded to Vance Brothers, Inc. by the City Commission on February 9, 2010. The microsurfacing project includes a number of City streets in north Lawrence and a neighborhood southeast of 19th & Haskell. On March 9, 2010 and May 25, 2010, the City Commission authorized revisions to the 2010 Comprehensive Street Maintenance Program that resulted in change orders no.1 and no.2 for Emergency Street Repair and Additional Patching areas to this contract.
As the construction season and program has progressed this year, some projects have come in under budget. Public Works staff has proposed the inclusion of the following street locations and to be financed with the reallocation of the remaining funding in the 2010 Street Maintenance Budget from project underruns:
$221,830.53 – E. 19th Street from Barker Avenue to Almira Avenue E. of Haskell Avenue – Mill & Overlay
$58,014.33 – E. 19th Street from Massachusetts to Barker Avenue – Full Depth Pavement Repairs
$9,033.21 - Incidental overruns to previously approved Additional Patching & Internal Street Maintenance locations including Manhole, Watervalve, & Monument Box Adjustments at various locations, along with Milling of East 13th Street from Massachusetts to Connecticut St.
Project Funding. The current contract amount is $1,083,957.00 which includes patching and microsurfacing of City streets along with previously approved change orders no.1 and no.2 for emergency street repair and additional patching areas. With the partial reallocation of 2010 Street Maintenance Budget & incidental overruns that totals $288,878.07, as described, the contract amount will total $1,372,835.07.
Action Request. Approve Change Order No. 3 to Vance Brothers, Inc. in the amount of $288,878.07.
