Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the September 7, 2010 meeting:
Description: Purchase of Laser Shot Simulation Trainer. Laser Shot is a scenario based law enforcement training system. The system uses a video projector interfaced with a computer to run scenarios on a video screen. This request is for the purchase of the Laser Shot LE Pro Series Law Enforcement System for $28,207.00.
Details: The scenarios provided by Laser Shot are interactive. Officers encounter decision making scenarios where they decide on force or no force options. Each scenario has multiple outcomes based on the officer’s actions.
Funding. The necessary funds to cover the cost of the Laser Shot Trainer are available under a grant that The City of Lawrence and Douglas County have received jointly. The grant is for $20,709. The remaining amount of $7498.00 will be provided by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Action Request. Police Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to authorize the purchase of one Laser Shot LE Pro Law Enforcement Trainer System for $28,207.00.
