Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   Final Fridays, presented by the Downtown Lawrence Arts District, is a monthly, multi-disciplinary arts festival centered in Downtown Lawrence; and

WHEREAS:   Final Fridays will attract people of all ages from the Lawrence and regional community for a celebration of art in non-traditional venues; and

WHEREAS:   The City of Lawrence recognizes and appreciates that public art has the power to transform daily experience by encouraging active engagement with our sense of place; and

WHEREAS:   The City of Lawrence supports the collaboration between the Downtown Lawrence Arts District, Downtown Lawrence Inc., the Lawrence Arts Center, the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, the Lawrence Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission to bring Final Fridays to the community.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Amyx, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim the last Friday of each month to be

“Final Fridays”

and invite the citizens of Lawrence to join the festivities in Downtown Lawrence starting on August 27, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. .
