There were 239 permits issued in July, compared to 226 permits issued in July 2009. Permit valuation was $12,051,187 compared to $7,685,565 last year. Fees were $82,301.85 for July versus $69,253.75 a year ago. Statistics for total permit valuation and fees will be tracked throughout the year in the following table:

Permits were issued for thirteen new single-family dwellings and five apartment buildings containing 96 dwelling units last month. This compares to 25 permits issued for new single-family dwellings in July last year. The year-to-date total number of permits and total number of residential units will be tracked throughout the year in the following table, similar to permit valuation and fees:

Notable projects included permits for an apartment complex containing 96 dwelling units at 552 Frontier Road, total value $4,860,884; pump station #9 expansion at 3613 Brush Creek, valued at $1,444,400; a new Dollar General store at 1001 N 3rd Street, valued at $767,250; a press box for the Lawrence High School football facility at 1901 Louisiana Street valued at $496,000.
