Award Bid No. B1043 for 12” Class 50 Ductile Iron Pipe, Fire Hydrants, Valves, Pipe Fittings and Meter Parts to Hajoca Corp. for $1,331.58, Water Products Inc. for $19,554.21, Mainline Supply Co. for $40.00, Olathe WinWater Works Co. for $46,369.95, and HD Supply Waterworks LTD for $10,323.25.

Project History/Status

The existing 14” cast iron water transmission main currently in service on Indiana Street from W. 3rd Street south to W. 8th Street was constructed in 1886. This water main is part of the transmission system to provide water to the Harper Street water tank and to areas on the south and east side of Lawrence.  Based on the age and maintenance history, Utilities staff is proposing to construct a new 12” ductile iron water main as a part of the 2010 in-house water main replacement program. The current inventory of 12” ductile iron pipe, fire hydrants, valves, pipe fittings and meter parts are not sufficient to complete the project.

On 7/6/10 the City Commission approved a bid date of 7/27/10 for this project. Eight bids were opened at that time (bid tab attached). The vendors highlighted in green were the low bidders for the individual items. The total project cost is $77,618.99.

Project Funding: 

The project will be funded from the 2010 Operations and Maintenance Budget for Water Distribution.

Action Request:  Staff recommends award of Bid No. B1043 for 12” Class 50 Ductile Iron Pipe, Fire Hydrants, Valves, Pipe Fittings and Meter Parts to Hajoca Corp. for $1,331.58, Water Products Inc. for $19,554.21, Mainline Supply Co. for $40.00, Olathe WinWater Works Co. for $46,369.95, and HD Supply Waterworks LTD for $10,323.25.
