2011 Police Interceptor Purchase |
Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the August 10, 2010 meeting:
Approve bid process and set August 17 as date for bid opening for purchase of nine (9) Crown Victoria Police Interceptors.
The 2011 budget includes funds for replacement of nine (9) police cars. Ford Motor Company is phasing out production of the Crown Victoria Police Interceptors in August of 2011. Due to the anticipated high volume of orders for final production of this model of vehicle, the company is offering an incentive to their dealers for early ordering of Crown Victoria Police Interceptors. The incentive is $500.00 per car if ordered by September 7th. The savings to the City would be $4,500.00 on the purchase of nine cars.
Shawnee Mission Ford and Laird Noller Motors have agreed that if either are the successful bidder the units would be ordered for a January delivery. The purchase order would be requested January 2, 2011 to fulfill budget requirements.
Evaluation of the police fleet for vehicle rotation and specifications is complete and ready for bid.
The bid process needs to be completed by August 17th to allow time for City Commission approval August 24th. This will allow us to meet the September 7th deadline.
Action Request:
Approve the bid process and dates for this purchase.
