Approve Contract Renewal of Bid No. B09036 with Vito’s Plumbing for the 2010 Emergency Sewer Repair Contractor.
History: In 2009, 53 point repairs were completed for a cost of $225,822, with the average cost per repair of $4,260. In 2010 from 01/01/2010 through 07/16/2010, 30 point repairs were completed at a cost of $110,643 with the average cost per repair of $3,688. The point repairs were completed in various areas throughout the city.
In June 2009, the Utility Department requested bids for unit pricing to repair sanitary sewer mains, force mains, manholes and air relief valves. This bid is for small point repairs that will cost less than $15,000.
On July 14, 2009, bids were opened. Bids were received from RD Johnson Excavating and Vito’s Plumbing (see attached bid tabs). Vito’s Plumbing submitted the low unit bid pricing. The bid pricing was from 08/01/09 through 08/01/2010 with a bid option to renew the contract for an additional two years. There is no increase in unit pricing for the period of 08/01/2010 through 08/01/2011.
Project Funding: The emergency sanitary sewer repairs will be funded from the 2010 Operations and Maintenance budget 501.7.7410.2538.
Recommendation Action: Staff recommends approval of the contract renewal of Bid No. B09036 with Vito’s Plumbing for the 2010 Emergency Sewer Repair Contractor.
