RE: |
Award Bid for Asphalt Material for 13th Street, Oread Avenue, and Oak Hill Cemetery (Walk-On Item) |
Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the July 27, 2010 meeting:
On July 13th, 2010 the City Commission authorized the city to solicit bids for asphalt materials for the repaving of 13th Street (Massachusetts to Connecticut), Oread Avenue (13th to 12th Street) and repaving of portions of Oak Hill Cemetery. The repaving will be completed “in-house” with Street Division crews.
On Tuesday, July 27, 2010, the City of Lawrence will open bids for asphalt materials to be used in the repaving of 13th Street, Oread Avenue, and Oak Hill Cemetery - Bid No. B1046-0-2010. The bids will be reviewed and a recommendation will be presented to the City Commission that evening, July 27, 2010.
Justification:
Street Division crews play an integral part of our street maintenance program. Each year they participate with various projects performing a variety of tasks. Oread and 13th Street are short sections of pavement and can be resurfaced by “in-house” staff as effectively as contracted at a lower price. The work will be performed several weeks after the bid date award. The work in Oak Hill Cemetery will be completed later in the fall as road work slows down, with Parks and Recreation funds.
Project Funding:
Funding will come from the approved 2010 Street Maintenance Program Budget, Account 001-3-3000-4508 - General Fund - ($41,250.00) for 13th Street and Oread Avenue; and Parks and Recreation Budget, Account 212-4-4800-4209, Project #PR1026 ($30,000) for Oak Park Cemetery.
Action Request. The bids and award memo will be posted Tuesday afternoon.
