Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department recognizes National Therapeutic Recreation Week activities, promoting healthy, active lifestyles for the entire community; and

WHEREAS:   The citizens understand the role therapeutic recreation education plays in assisting citizens with illness, disabilities, and other debilitating conditions; and

WHEREAS:   Lawrence Parks and Recreation advocates leisure and recreational activities are critical to health, happiness, and quality of life; and

WHEREAS:   Lawrence Parks and Recreation continues to develop award-winning programs aimed to integrate those with and without disabilities, providing inclusion among people and finding commonality of purpose; and

WHEREAS:   The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department understands the importance of communicating therapeutic recreation opportunities to families and individuals of all ages;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Amyx, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim the week of July 12 – 18 to be:

“National Therapeutic Recreation Week”
