Call meeting to order.
Dillon called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
Introductions.
The Board Members introduced themselves.

Dillon suggested that this item be postponed until the next meeting due to two members being absent. All agreed.
Approve the March 24, 2009 minutes.
Dillon made a motion to approve the minutes. Burd second the motion, the motion passed 3-0.
Review Process of 2009 International Codes.
The Board discussed the International Plumbing Code and the current ordinance. Staff clarified the ordinance stating that the underlined was added text and the strikethrough was deleted text.
Dillon stated that Section 5-509.1 and the corresponding ordinance section of the International Residential Code needed to allow air admittance valves on island fixtures.
Molton agreed stating that island fixtures are more common and more remote, creating issues with installing an island vent properly.
Dillon made a motion to allow air admittance valves on island fixtures in new construction. Molton second the motion, the motion passed 3-0.
Staff pointed out section 502.5 of the IPC stating that it requires a thirty inch clear working space on the control side of a water heater. Staff went on to say that this section will change the way water heaters are installed by requiring a thirty inch working space on the control side of the water heater.
The Board discussed how section 502.5 would be interpreted. Byrd asked if interruptions into the thirty inch space would be tolerated.
After a short discussion of different scenarios it was agreed by all that the code section required a thirty inch working space on the control side of the water heater within normal reach ranges but not necessarily directly next to the water heater.
With no other amendment or interpretation issues regarding the International Plumbing Code, staff requested that the Board complete the review of the IPC at the next meeting and possible the International Fuel Gas Code.

Staff handed out information on lead paint abatement to the Board. Staff informed the Board that lead based paint issues will be addressed by the Environmental Protection Agency on a complaint basis.
