RE:

Oak Hill Cemetery Roads – Asphalt Purchase

Please include the following item on the City Commission agenda for consideration at the July 6th, 2010 meeting:

Approve the purchase of asphalt paving material to repair Oak Hill Cemetery Roads.

Project Description

Over the next 3-4 months the City of Lawrence Public Works Department will assist the Park and Recreation Department by providing equipment and labor needed to repair many of the roads in Oak Hill Cemetery (see attached photos). This work will be completed as time allows.

Project Funding

It is estimated that the total cost of the asphalt needed for these repairs will be approximately $30,000. Since this project will take place over several months, bids will be solicited at the time of purchase to assure the lowest possible price for these materials. It is recommended that this project be funded with Sales Tax Reserve Funds.

Action Request

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to commit $30,000 of Sale Tax Reserve funds, for the purchase of asphalt paving, to repair Oak Hill Cemetery roads.

Thank you for your assistance.  Please advise if you have any questions.
