RE: |
Use of right-of-way permit for Lawrence Originals July 4 Event
|
The Lawrence Originals are planning their second annual July 4 celebration at Watson Park, and have requested a temporary use of right-of-way permit for the closure of 7th Street from Kentucky to Tennessee. The group has reserved the park and wants to close the street to allow the parking of equipment and safe passage for pedestrians between the two sections of Watson Park north and south of 7th Street. The event consists of live music, food vendors, and children’s activities. The organizers are in the process of obtaining State and City temporary permits to allow the sale of alcohol during the event. Thanks to the City Commission’s adoption of Ordinance No. 8515 a few weeks ago, an ordinance allowing possession and consumption of alcohol in the park is no longer required to allow events like this to take place.
ACTION: Approve a temporary use of right-of-way permit for the Lawrence Originals allowing the closure of 7th Street between Kentucky Street and Tennessee Street on Sunday, July 4, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. – midnight.
