Alcohol Beverages at Clinton Park
|
Staff received a request to allow alcoholic beverages in Clinton Park for a wedding ceremony and party. Specific information about the request is included below.
Kasey Ross-Wedding at Clinton Park
On Wednesday, May 12, we received a request from Kasey Ross to allow the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages on May 22, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. during her wedding ceremony and party. Ms. Ross has reserved Clinton Park with the Parks & Recreation Department. The possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages at Clinton Park is prohibited by City Code. However, City Code section 4-105(E) allows the City to exempt, by ordinance, specified City property from the prohibition of alcoholic beverages on public property. Ordinance No. 8527 authorizes the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages on May 22, 2010 in Clinton Park from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., provided such possession and consumption is otherwise pursuant to the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas and the laws of the State of Kansas and the rules and regulations of the Parks and Recreation Department.
ACTION: Declare an emergency and adopt on first and second reading Ordinance No. 8527, authorizing the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages at Clinton Park on May 22, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
