Grants awarded to local arts organizations for community art projects

 

(Lawrence, Ks.)  -- The City of Lawrence is pleased to announce the 2010 Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission’s 16th Annual Community Arts Grant awardees which were selected based on the following three criteria: 1) community value 2) project quality 3) application quality.   The grants are intended as start-off money for projects or special community art-related ventures with a particular focus on encouraging the arts within the Lawrence community.

At the May 11th, 2010 Lawrence City Commission meeting, the Mayor and Chair of the Cultural Arts Commission will present the following organizations with their grants: 

 

Drums on Children’s Learning Center’s Playground – Children’s Learning Center, Inc. $500

Final Fridays Fringe Festival – Downtown Lawrence, Inc. - $1,000

Summer Film Intensive – Lawrence Arts Center - $1,000

Lawrence Busker Festival – Lawrence Busker Festival - $1,000

Ride Lawrence” Functional Art Bike Rack for the Lawrence Farmer’s Market – Lawrence Central Rotary - $1,000

Youth Education Program (YEP) – Lawrence Community Theater $1,000

Collaborative Arts Experiences for Kids – Trinity In-Home Care $500

JAMS – Summer Benchmark – Van Go, Inc. $1,000

Total: $7,000
