There were 155 permits issued in April, compared to 169 permits issued in April 2009. Permit valuation was $12,605,541 compared to $6,482,254 last year. Fees were $41,877.60 for April versus $47,977.68 a year ago. Statistics for total permit valuation and fees will be tracked throughout the year in the following table:

Eight permits were issued for new single-family dwellings last month. This compares to six permits issued for new single-family dwellings along with two permits for apartment buildings containing 16 dwelling units in April last year. The year-to-date total number of permits and total number of residential units will be tracked throughout the year in the following table, similar to permit valuation and fees:

The highest valued projects for which permits were issued in April were a renovation at Lawrence Memorial Hospital valued at $5.5M, and a pump station at 3820 Greenway Circle valued at $2.3M. The highest valued private projects were for a new car wash at 4850 Bauer Farm Drive, valued at $850,000, and a renovation project for Discovery Furniture Store at 2520 Iowa Street valued at $700,000.
