Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department recognizes all its many “Friends of the Park”; and

WHEREAS:   Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department acknowledges the contributions of businesses and individuals throughout the year who support our programs, events and classes; and

WHEREAS:   Lawrence Parks and Recreation recognizes the commitment our friends have made to enhance our community parks through the Memorial Tree Program and their investments made to improve facilities; and

WHEREAS:   Lawrence Parks and Recreation commends Wee Folks Scholarship Fund donors, supporting youth in skill development and participation in life-building programs and activities; and

WHEREAS:   Lawrence Parks and Recreation appreciates those who donate their time in volunteer service to the department, assisting at the nature center, planting landscapes, cleaning up park and nature areas and participating with youth as coaches and mentors;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Amyx, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, April 27, 2010, to be:

“FRIENDS OF THE PARK DAY”
