Dear City Commission,

            As a twenty-two year resident homeowner of the Oread Neighborhood and a two-year Oread Neighborhood Association Board member, I encourage you to approve the Oread Neighborhood Plan.

            As detailed by the Planning Department staff in the Staff Report, numerous meetings have been held with the stakeholders affected by the plan. Over the last 15 months, there have been numerous opportunities for public comment. There was participation by all stakeholder groups during the drafting of the plan.

            I believe that the neighborhood should be a diverse neighborhood of KU students, families, KU professors and employees, and other working adults. I believe the proposed plan will encourage a pedestrian friendly, green, and safe neighborhood.

            I particularly favor the historic preservation aspects of the proposed Oread Neighborhood Plan. Lawrence is very fortunate to have many historic buildings and public spaces downtown and in the surrounding neighborhoods.
