On Monday, April 12, 2010 the City of Lawrence, City of Eudora, and Douglas County opened sealed bids for road salt in a cooperative purchasing agreement.  Last year the City purchased 3000 tons of road salt in a cooperative bid with the County for $41.64 a ton.  This year the City requested bids for 3,500 tons of salt with the option to buy an additional 1000 tons in the spring of 2011.  The results are:

Recommendation Action: 

Award bid for 3,500 tons of road salt for Public Works Department to Central Salt for $43.02 a ton or $150,570.00 with an option for additional 1,000 tons if needed for $43,020.00, total $193,590.00. (Public Works/Streets)
