RE:	Facility Use Agreement with Lawrence Swim School, LLC, a for-profit Kansas Corporation d/b/a Ad Astra Area Aquatics

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the April 20^th, 2010 meeting:

History

On April 2, 2010 a new youth competitive swim team was formed under Lawrence Swim School, LLC d/b/a Ad Astra Area Aquatics.  This new team is registered with USA Swimming, Inc.  through Missouri Valley Swimming, Inc.   Ad Astra Area Aquatics wishes to rent available swimming lanes at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center for the purposes of operating a youth competitive swim club.  The required certificate of liability insurance has been received with the City of Lawrence named additional insured.

The Parks and Recreation Department requests to enter into a 1-year facility use agreement with Lawrence Swim School, LLC, d/b/a Ad Astra Area Aquatics for the 2010 swimming season.  Ad Astra Area Aquatics has also expressed a mutual desire to enter into this agreement. 

Action Request

Staff requests the City Commission authorize the City Manager to enter into a 1-year facility use agreement with Ad Astra Area Aquatics for the 2010 swimming season.
