There were 201 permits issued in March 2010, compared to 144 in 2009. Permit valuation was $9,200,761 compared to $14,411,989 last year. Fees were $66,457.70 compared to $86,271.48 last year. Permit valuation and fees will be tracked throughout the year in the following table:

Staff issued 26 permits new single-family dwellings, compared to one in March last year. The number of permits and total number of residential units will be tracked throughout the year in the following table, similar to permit valuation and fees:

The highest valued project in March was the Carnegie Library renovation, 200 W. 9th Street, which was valued at $1,437,000. Other permits issued for public projects included a new cooling tower at Lawrence High School valued at $102,000, and an electrical service repair at the City facility at 1140 Haskell Avenue, valued at $2,500.
For the second consecutive month, new single-family and duplex dwelling permits accounted for a major proportion of the total valuation of permits issued; 61% of the total valuation of permits issued for the month.
