Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the March 23, 2010 meeting:
Authorize the City Manager to execute Change Order No. 3 with King’s Construction for Project 09S004 Fairfield Farms East Addition Sanitary Sewer Lift Station in the amount of $16,500.00.
Project History/Status: On March 3, 2009 the City received a petition for street, water and sanitary sewer improvements for Fairfield East Addition No. 1. The City Commission approved Resolution 6831 and 6832 establishing the respective benefit district.
On September 1, 2009 the City of Lawrence, KS opened bids for the Fairfield East Addition No. 1 Benefit Districts. The bid for Project 09S004 Sanitary Sewer Lift Station was awarded during the September 1, 2009 City Commission meeting to King’s Construction in the amount of $149,000.00.
On October 29, 2009 the City received a request from the developer, Eastside Acquisitions LLC., to include all costs associated with the extension of Westar electrical service to the properties, including the Benefit District sanitary sewer lift station, in the previously established benefit district.
Change Order No.1 was an increase in the amount of $13,750.00 covering modifications to the pumps and wet well that were the result of KDHE’s final review of the project.
Change Order No. 2 was an increase in the amount of $57,978.00 in response to the request from Eastside Acquisition, LLC. These costs included the construction of conduit and junction boxes for the extension of Westar electrical service from west of O’Connell Rd to the properties in the Benefit Districts, as well as Westar direct costs for the installation of the electrical conductor within the conduit. These costs are in addition to the amount originally bid by King’s Construction for the construction of the electrical service leg to serve the sanitary sewer lift station.
Change Order No. 3 (attached) requests a net increase of $16,500.00 for additional material and labor for three electrical safety switches and a transformer.
