Re:	Annual Phone Equipment Maintenance

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the March 23, 2010 meeting:

Description: The City of Lawrence uses a number of telephone systems at various facilities for telecommunication services.  These system locations include City Hall, Police LEC, Police ITC, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Kaw Treatment Plant, Nature Center, and Maintenance Garage.  In February 2008, the City issued a request for bid (RFB #B08011) to potential maintenance providers for a 3-year maintenance agreement for all these locations.  The winning vendor was Innovative Service Solutions, Inc. based in Olathe, Kansas.  The annual charges for the third year of maintenance service are now due.

Details:  The Innovative Service Solutions, Inc. (ISS) agreement allows the City of Lawrence the flexibility of selecting from a number of telecommunication maintenance vendors to provide the hands-on repairs of equipment.  The result has been a very responsive and satisfactory working relationship with maintenance technicians that are very familiar with the telco equipment used by the City.

Funding: Funding for these annual maintenance charges are provided by the operating budgets of the participating departments.

Action Request Information Systems staff requests approval from the City Commission to authorize payment of the annual maintenance charges per agreement with ISS, Inc. in the amount of $20,752
