RESOLUTION NO.  6876

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF THE LIBRARY ROOF PURSUANT TO CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 32 AND THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS TO PAY THE COSTS THEREOF.

WHEREAS, Charter Ordinance No. 32 of the City of Lawrence, Kansas (the "City") authorizes the issuance of general obligation bonds to pay for the costs of design, alteration, repair, reconstruction, remodel, or replacement of certain public buildings, including public libraries; and

WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the City hereby finds and determines that it is necessary to make the following public building improvements.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE KANSAS:

Section 1.       Pursuant to Charter Ordinance No. 32 of the City, the Governing Body hereby finds that it is necessary and desirable to design, repair, reconstruct and replace the roof on the public library building (the "Improvements").

Section 2.       The Governing Body hereby finds it necessary and desirable to authorize the issuance of general obligation bonds of the City pursuant to Charter Ordinance No. 32 to pay the costs of the Improvements, in a principal amount up to and including $500,000, plus costs of issuance and interest on temporary financing for said Improvements.

Section 3.       The City expects to make additional capital expenditures on and after the date of adoption of this resolution in connection with the Improvements and the City intends to reimburse itself for such expenditures with the proceeds of the bonds and/or notes in a maximum principal amount of $500,000 plus costs of issuance and interest on any temporary financing.
