RE:	Lease with Lawrence-Douglas County Bioscience Authority for West Lawrence Labs Project

Please schedule the following item on the agenda for the January 26, 2009 City Commission meeting:

Authorize the Mayor to execute the final lease agreement, with no option to purchase provisions, with the Lawrence-Douglas County Bioscience Authority for the West Lawrence Labs building, located at 4950 Research Parkway, if appropriate.    

Background:

At its meeting on January 12, 2010, the City Commission unanimously provided direction to remove the option to purchase provisions from the lease with the Lawrence-Douglas County Bioscience Authority for the management of the West Lawrence Labs building.  Attached is the final version of the lease, both a clean copy and a marked version showing the revisions from the former consideration. 

At its meeting on January 20, 2010, the Douglas County Commission unanimously concurred with this change. 

The LDCBA has indicated that its board will consider the latest version of the lease prior to January 26. 

Action Requested:

Authorize the Mayor to execute the lease agreement, with no option to purchase provisions, with the Lawrence-Douglas County Bioscience Authority for the West Lawrence Labs building, located at 4950 Research Parkway, if appropriate.
