2009 Downtown Football Shuttle Post-Season Report

The City of Lawrence established a free shuttle service from downtown to KU’s Memorial Stadium on football game days in 2008. The shuttle service was repeated in 2009 with the addition of a $1 roundtrip fare. This memo provides a report on the operations of the 2009 shuttle.
With the addition of a $1 roundtrip fare in 2009, ridership was 9% lower in 2009 than 2008, but still appeared strong. Excess parking capacity existed at the Riverfront Garage on game days. By the time the shuttle stopped running to campus (30 minutes after kickoff), the New Hampshire Street Garage was generally full but there was still quite a bit of parking available on the lower level of the Riverfront Garage. Next year we may want to attempt to direct more parkers toward Riverfont.
