RE:	Complete Count Committee Resolution

The attached document is a joint city/county resolution establishing the Lawrence/Douglas County 2010 Census Complete Count Committee.

The city and county are working with numerous community organizations to promote the upcoming U.S. Census.  The Constitution mandates that a census be completed every ten years.  The 2010 Census questionnaires will officially be mailed to every resident in the United States on or before April 1, 2010.  The Complete Count Committee has been working to generate ideas for outreach regarding the upcoming census.  Participation in the U.S. Census is important to cities and counties across the country because many federal and state programs are funded in accordance to results from the Census.

The city appointed Sue Hack as co-chair to this committee and the county appointed Ken Grotewiel as their co-chair.  Numerous organizations throughout Douglas County have agreed to partner with the Census as a member of the Complete Count Committee; the local organizations are listed on the resolution.
