On November 10, 2009, the City of Lawrence opened proposals for the following: |
|
Bid#09065 – 2010 Water Treatment Chemicals – Utilities Department |
Please see attached bid tab.
Utilities Department requested bids for water treatment chemicals for 2010. All were based on the low bid including shipping.
The low bid for Calgon WPH800, polymer for the Clinton Plant, three low bids for phosphate solution, and one for potassium permanganate did not meet our required specifications. The chemicals bid have not been tested in the plants to ensure they work properly and put out the quality product we require.
There was a tie bid for polymer at the Clinton Plant. Cedar Chemical’s polymer was not a specified approved product therefore we recommend the Nalco’s polymer that was approved.
The Utilities Department has contacted some of these companies so their products can be tested in 2010 to see if they meet our standards.
Recommendation Action:
Approve recommended bids as marked (*), (Utilities/Chemicals Fund)
