RE: |
Heating and Environmental Air Exchange Unit Container Maintenance at the S.W.A.N. Building, 1320 Industrial Lane Approve Proposal
|
Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the October 20, 2009 meeting:
Project Description
This project is for design, construction and installation of a heating and environmental air exchange unit for the Container Maintenance side of the S.W.A.N. building at 320 Industrial Lane.
Project History/Status/Schedule
Presently there are three self contained wall hanging units. Safety is a concern because there are two cracked heat exchangers. KDOL (Kansas Department of Labor) recently did an inspection and one of their concerns was the air exchange in an area that contains welding operations and vehicle exhaust. This project will bring the air exchange up to present building code. Infrared gas heaters are more efficient and heat objects rather than air, and work well in areas of high air exchange.
An RFP was mailed to vendors and placed on Demand Star. Four proposals were received:
|
Central Mechanical Construction |
$27,950.00 |
|
Johnson Controls |
$30,837.00 |
|
P1 Group |
$42,000.00 |
|
D’Agostino |
$89,011.00 |
Proposals were reviewed and evaluated. Staff recommends the Central Mechanical Construction proposal because of their understanding of the job, timetable for completion of work, references, and lowest cost.
This project will be funded through Account No. 502 3520 572 60-36.
Action Request
Authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Central Mechanical Construction in the amount of $27,950.00 for the design, construction and installation of a heating and environmental air exchange unit in the Container Maintenance side of the S.W.A.N. Building.
Respectfully Submitted,
