RE:               KVSA & LYF Facility Use Agreements

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the October 20, 2009, meeting:

Description

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department has worked with the Kaw Valley Soccer Association and Lawrence Youth Football to negotiate facility use agreements for the fields at the City operated Youth Sports Complex (formerly YSI). These two organizations have been providing youth sports programming at this complex for over 20 year. In the early part of 2009 the City took over management of the complex. This agreement specifies policies and procedures for the use of the facilities and defines the fee that will be paid to the City.  The recommended agreement was drafted by the City’s attorney, and has been approved by both organizations and by the US Army Corp of Engineers (owner of the property).

Action Request

Two actions are recommended:

Authorize the City Manager to sign a facility use agreement with the Kaw Valley Soccer Association

Authorize the City Manager to sign a facility use agreement with Lawrence Youth Football.
