On May 26, 2009 the City Commission approved an agreement with BG Consultants for the design of the extension of a water main to the Lawrence Municipal Airport. The scope of the extension of water service includes extending a 12” main north on N. 7th Street (E1500 Road) to HWY 24/40, then east on 24/40 to Airport Road, and extending an 8” main north to Bryant Way. The water main will be installed within existing right-of-way.
To prepare the airport for growth and business opportunities the looping of this line is necessary for both domestic/commercial usage and additional fire protection. The project schedule would include:

FYI: The sewer study is still in progress. Existing and future (short/long term) flows have been challenging. The study should be completed later this year for City Commission review.
Action Requested: Set bid date of October 13, 2009 for Project UT0923DS (City Bid No. B09064), 2009 Lawrence Airport Waterline Improvements. Plans will be available for contractors on Friday, September 25, 2009 after 10:00 a.m.
