RE:	Ordinance 8460 – plumbing code amendments

The attached Ordinance No. 8460 includes amendments to the 2006 International Residential Code (IRC) and 2006 International Plumbing Code (IPC).  At its meeting in October 2008, the Plumbing Code Board heard a request from a manufacturer’s representative that CPVC piping be accepted in the City for use in potable water supply systems in residential and commercial applications.  CPVC piping is recognized by the IRC and IPC as an approved material, but was amended out of these codes as originally adopted by the City.  The request was tabled for future consideration to allow the members to perform research pertaining to the performance of the material.

The request was brought back to the Board at its May 20, 2009 meeting, at which the Board voted unanimously to recommend CPVC piping be accepted within the City as prescribed by the IRC and IPC.
