RE:               DeVictor Park Trail Additions

Please include the following item on the City Commission agenda for consideration at the September 22nd, 2009 meeting:

Authorize additions to the concrete trail at DeVictor Park using 2009 unit pricing for concrete.

Project Description

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department requests Commission approval to use unit pricing bids, received at the beginning of 2009, for needed concrete trail additions in DeVictor Park. These prices were competitively bid at the beginning of the year and the successful vendor (Hicks Classic Concrete) is used throughout the year for various projects in the parks.  With approval, staff plans to contract the continued installation of concrete trails at DeVictor Park as funding allows. The attached map delineates the order of future installations.

Notice to Proceed:    September 23, 2009

Project Completion:  October 15, 2009

Project Funding

The Sales Tax Reserve fund will be used to fund the projects.

Action Request

Authorize the City Manager to issue purchase orders for $19,724 to Hick’s Classic Concrete for 587 linear feet of trail additions at DeVictor Park.
