The organizational meeting of the Committee was called to order at 4:00 p.m. in the City Manager’s Conference Room at City Hall. Introductions were made. Corliss gave background on the history of the 2008 sales tax and purposes behind the formation of the Sales Tax Audit Committee. The Ordinance establishing the Committee, sales tax election ballot, and other information was provided to Committee members.
There was Committee discussion concerning the role of the Committee, the importance of access to certain public documents, certain rules and requirements for City finance, and the organization of the Committee. The sales taxes became effective on April 1, 2009.
The Committee had a general consensus that it would meet on a quarterly basis.
The Committee requested that staff prepare draft minutes of each meeting.
Corliss stated the board needed to elect a chair. On the motion of King, second by Boyle, the Committee unanimously approved the selection of Yehle as Chair.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 4:00 p.m.
The meeting adjourned at approximately 5:00 p.m.
