ONE (1) SIGN TRUCK – Public Works – Bid#09047 |
Public Works Traffic Division requested bids for signs and markings service truck. The truck will be used daily and will haul approximately 7000 lbs. of materials and equipment.
The current sign truck (unit 985) has become too unreliable to continue using. The maintenance on the unit has become too costly to continue fixing the parts that are wearing out. It was never specifically designed to meet the needs of the Signs and Markings personnel. The new truck was designed specifically for the job so as to make the tasks of the signs and markings personnel achievable in a much safer and more efficient manner. Unit 985 meets the criteria for immediate replacement in the Central Maintenance Garage vehicle replacement plan.
The bid included four options, a post puller, a hydraulic post driver, a hydraulic hose reel, and an LED light bar with split traffic advisor. These options are for safety as well as increase speed of operations.
This purchase was approved in the 2009 budgeting process.
