RE:	Authorization for Mayor to Sign Agreement with Grant Township Pertaining to Provision of Fire Services

Please place the following item on the August 18, 2009 City Commission Consent Agenda as appropriate.

Staff has negotiated an agreement with Grant Township for continuation of fire protection services for a six year period, commencing January 1, 2010 through 2015.  The current agreement for services expires at the end of 2009.  Per the agreement, Grant Township will provide the City of Lawrence $105,000 for services provided in 2010.  Annual increases in the contract amount are included through 2015. 

Staff recommends approval of the agreement.
