Meeting called to order at 4:02 p.m.
Review and approve
minutes from March 26, 2009
Chaney made a motion
to approve the minutes as written. Wyatt
seconded the motion. Pass 4-0.
Discuss R-22
phase-out and ban
Chaney
stated he received information regarding the phase out of cooling equipment
containing R-22. He stated he understood
from the information, after January 1, 2010, R-22 equipment could not be
produced and also could not be installed in new construction.
Staff
replied the ban was a Federal mandate banning the manufacture of equipment
containing R-22, but would not affect the installation of the equipment. Essentially, until supplies manufactured
before January 1, 2010 run out the equipment can continue to be installed.
Mohr
stated the EPA typically does not get involved with the details of
installations.
The
board took no action.
Miscellaneous
Wyatt
inquired about the selection of the board member replacing Jim Sparkes
position.
Staff
replied Laura Blanchard appointed by the Mayor on Tues May, 26th and
anticipated her attendance at the next meeting.
Wyatt
asked Chaney if he was in attendance of the last Plumbing Board meeting.
Chaney
replied he did not attend the meeting but had heard some of the details of the
meeting. Chaney explained the Plumbing
Board proposed and amendment to the City code regarding medical gas installed
in buildings be required to obtain a third party certification of the
installation before occupancy is allowed.
He stated his understanding
of
the proposed amendment was to clarify what is required.
Mohr
stated he would like to review the new codes before making a decision to
proceed with adoption of the new codes.
Chaney
mentioned a pizza restaurant hood situation and the City was requiring a new
grease hood be installed. Chaney asked
if the owner could be grandfathered in with a few minor modifications.
Staff
replied that they would need to submit their design to see if it would comply
with City code. The board took no
action.
Motion
to adjourn made by Mohr, seconded by Chaney, pass 4-0. Meeting adjourned at 4:21 p.m.
