May 2009 Monthly Permit Report

 

 

There were 133 permits issued in May 2009, compared to 168 in 2008.  Permit valuation was $3,949,165 compared to $23,412,042 last year.  Fees were $38,385.40 compared to $76,453.48 last year.  These statistics will be tracked throughout the year in the following table:

Eight permits were issued for new single-family dwellings along with two permits for duplexes, compared to seven single-family and one duplex in May last year.  No other residential permits were issued in May of either year.  The number of permits and total number of residential units will be tracked throughout the year in the following table, similar to permit valuation and fees:

The highest valued projects for which permits were issued in May were for a restaurant remodel valued at $480,000 at 715 Massachusetts Street, and a single-family dwelling valued at $312,000 at 2745 Coneflower Ct.  Seven permits were issued for publicly funded projects, including a pre-fabricated restroom facility for Hobbs Park, a restroom renovation at Central Junior High School, athletic facility lighting projects at Lawrence High School, Lawrence Virtual School and Free State High School, and minor electrical work at Lyons Park.  The total value of work for these projects is $777,500.
