Re: |
Purchase of SCBA Cylinders
|
Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the May 19, 2009 meeting:
Background:
As part of our 2009 Operating Budget we requested and received approval for the purchase of replacement Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) cylinders with an estimated cost of $30,000. These cylinders have a fifteen year fixed life expectancy and must be replaced in order to maintain adequate cylinders for emergency operations.
Bid Status:
The Fire Medical Department solicited bids (#B09028) for supplying the Department with replacement cylinders. The Notice to Bidders set out the specifications for the cylinders and the quantity requested. The Department received five bids from suppliers. The submitted bids were reviewed and analyzed to determine the low bids for the responses meeting the Department’s specifications, all bids met specifications and the low bid was selected. The actual low bid received was approximately $10,000 lower than the estimate.
