Dear Mayor and City Commissioners;

The Lawrence Association of Neighborhoods would like to clarify one statement made in David Tucker’s presentation. We stated that we support “discussions” about homeless issues including the camping site. We have not had the opportunity to review a proposal  until after our last meeting and therefore LAN was not able to support a proposal.

We do support Lawrence’s work towards homeless issues and wish to take part in the discussions and help with community wide  projects that help in this area. With our economic future in jeopardy there could be many people finding themselves homeless who are wishing to get back on their feet and back into housing and LAN supports any practical effort in this direction.

One campsite idea LAN did have a consensus on is that a campsite in our city parks is not a suitable place and we would like to see the city, if they find they can afford any temporary legal campsite,  to be very careful where the city would set up camp.
