CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 38
A CHARTER ORDINANCE REPEALING CHARTER ORDINANCE NUMBER 25 OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS RELATING TO THE QUORUM OF THE GOVERNING BODY.
WHEREAS, by the adoption of Charter Ordinance No. 25, the City of Lawrence exempted itself from the provisions of K.S.A. 13-1810 relating to the quorum requirements of the Governing Body, and provided for substitute and additional provisions; and
WHEREAS, K.S.A. 13-1810 has since been repealed by the Kansas Legislature.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That Charter Ordinance No. 25 is hereby repealed and shall no longer be of any force or effect.
Section 2. This Charter Ordinance shall be published once each week for two consecutive weeks in the Official City Newspaper.
Section 3. This is a Charter Ordinance and shall take effect sixty (60) days after final publication unless a sufficient petition for a referendum is filed and a referendum held on the Ordinance as provided in Article 12, Section 5, Subdivision (c), (3) of the Constitution of Kansas, in which case the Ordinance shall become effective if approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon.
Adopted by the governing body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, not less than two-thirds of the members-elect voting in favor thereof, the ______ day of __________, 2009.
