RE:               Economic Development Policy Ordinance

On March 24^th, the City Commission adopted the new economic development policy that governs cashlike incentives as well as tax abatements, and directed staff to prepare the policy as an ordinance for first reading at the next City Commission meeting (agenda items available here).  In response, staff has prepared the economic development policy ordinance, and is hereby submitting it for first reading on March 31^st.  A copy of the ordinance is available here.

Recommendation: Approve first reading of Ordinance No. 8384 adopting the City of Lawrence economic development policy and tax abatement policy, if appropriate.
