Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:       KVC Behavioral HealthCare is a human services organization that provides medical and behavioral healthcare, social services, and education to children and families; and

WHEREAS:       KVC is the Kansas foster care and adoption contractor selected by the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services for Regions 2 and 3 in northeast Kansas; and

WHEREAS:       KVC partners with the Kansas Judicial System, its representatives, attorneys, and hundreds of committed community partners to help find loving families for children; and

WHEREAS:       KVC, its partners, and these families have facilitated fifty-five adoptions in Douglas County and the majority of adoptions for Kansas children living in foster care since July 2005;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael Dever, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim Thursday, April 2, 2009 as

“KVC CELEBRATES 1,000 ADOPTIONS”

And urge the citizens of Lawrence to recognize the 1,000 adoptions, as well as both past and on-going contributions of KVC, its partners, and the loving committed families who have opened their homes to these 1,000 children.
